Czech Chrest

Hostín u Vojkovic

About the venue

The Český chřest farm in Hostín u Vojkovic, in the Mělník region, is the largest asparagus operation in the Czech Republic, with fields covering around 150 hectares. The tradition of growing asparagus here dates back to the Austro-Hungarian era, when the local harvest was supplied to the imperial court. From April through the end of June, the farm sells white, green, and purple asparagus directly on site; it also grows horseradish. Each year the popular Asparagus and Horseradish Festival brings harvest demonstrations, food stalls, and a farmers' market to the estate.
