EXHIBITION: Tierra del Fuego
An exhibition about Tierra del Fuego at Archeopark Pavlov, exploring the nature and culture of South America's southernmost region.
Archeopark Pavlov is an archaeological museum on the slopes of the Pavlovské vrchy hills, run by the Regional Museum in Mikulov. Designed by architects Radko Květ and Pavel Pijáček, the building sits mostly underground - only white concrete skylights break the surface, echoing the limestone crags of the Pálava ridge. The exhibition, opened in 2016, covers the culture of mammoth hunters from around 30,000 years ago: stone and bone tools, Venus figurines, a replica of the triple grave from Dolní Věstonice, and an exposed mammoth-bone deposit left in situ. The site is a national cultural monument and ranks among the most important Palaeolithic localities in Europe.
