The main motif of the hour-long documentary is a pilgrimage around Mount Kailash, the most sacred mountain in Asia, sacred to Buddhists, Hindus, Jains and Bönists alike. Kailash has the shape of a pyramid, with a major Asian river springing from its base on each cardinal direction, and is considered the axis of the universe, the center of the world. It is located in western Tibet and the path around it represents the psychologically and physically most demanding religious pilgrimage on our earth. The pilgrimage circuit symbolizes the stages of life, death, the state between death and the next birth, and the stage of new life. Through the pilgrims we learn not only about the everyday life of Tibetans - villagers and nomads - but mainly about their spiritual understanding of the world and their existence within it. Spiritual values in the lives of Tibetans clearly outweigh material values. Remarkable and inspiring for us is the Tibetan concept of death. Tibetans prepare for death during their lives, rid themselves of fear of it and take it as a chance, a transition to a new and better life in the endless cycle of existences in various spheres of being. Equally inspiring is the attitude of every Tibetan - they know that they will be happy only if everyone around them is happy, and therefore they feel compassion for all beings.
