Viliam Poltikovič (born 28 February 1958 in Znojmo) is a Czech documentary filmmaker, cinematographer, photographer and writer. He graduated from FAMU's documentary department in 1984 and has since made over 170 films, primarily for Czech Television. Since 1989 he has focused on documentaries exploring spiritual, philosophical and ethnographic themes, with films screened at festivals including Cannes, Moscow, Berlin, Vienna and Barcelona.
Poltikovič's feature-length documentary Dalai Lama - Ocean of Wisdom enters Czech cinemas on July 9, 2026; the film summarizes more than thirty years of the author's meetings with the 14th Dalai Lama.
In June 2026, Poltikovič actively presents the new film at screenings throughout the Czech Republic and personally leads discussions with viewers.
