Before he started calling himself Rango and made up plenty of myths about his heroic exploits, a chameleon in a Hawaiian shirt inhabited a spacious terrarium. He lacked nothing in it, perhaps except for a bit of action. He will start to fully enjoy it when he unfortunately ends up in the middle of an arid desert, where a hungry hawk almost makes a meal of him. And as if the tension weren't enough, his next steps lead to a town called Dirt, where the inhabitants' necks are stuck out in a damn difficult situation. In the local saloon, the chameleon invents the name Rango and a couple of heroic stories, which he soon regrets. The desperate locals promptly give him a sheriff's badge and a pile of tasks, including finding a source of drinking water and removing killers from here and beyond. It will be up to Rango whether he turns his reckless heroic talk into action, or whether he throws away the badge, guns and stetson, puts on his Hawaiian shirt and escapes back to civilization... "Welcome, amigo, to the endless desert, where thirst and dust are your eternal companions..." A chorus of playing and singing Mexican owls will introduce you to a world where you will be overcome with laughter, yet you will laugh non-stop at the story of the most unlikely hero the Wild West has ever known. Director Gore Verbinski has once again mixed an opulent cocktail of action, humor and beautiful sets, which runs as well as Jack Sparrow's ship, even though he unexpectedly jumped from the live-action world into the animated one.
