While beaten Hungary prepares for the ostentatious celebrations of May First, a man claiming to be his real father enters Andor's life. László Nemes, an uncompromising filmmaking talent and Oscar winner for the film, returns with a chilling study of the disintegration of one family and entire society. A gripping historical film thus becomes a terrifying metaphor for the loss of freedom in the machinery of Central European history.
