László Nemes is a Hungarian film director whose debut feature Son of Saul (2015) won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and the Grand Prix at Cannes. His second film Sunset (2018) is set in pre-WWI Budapest. Nemes is known for an intense, claustrophobic visual style and a recurring focus on traumatic historical events.
