Jasukazu Kanó - Shinobue: The Sound of the Japanese Flute
The Czech-Japanese Society in collaboration with the National Gallery Prague presents a programme dedicated to the traditional Japanese transverse flute shinobue, performed by Japanese musician Jasukazu Kanó.
The programme begins with a short public performance in the foyer of Salmovský Palace. This is followed by a lecture with musical demonstrations focusing on the history of Japanese flutes, their development, various types, and playing techniques. Jasukazu Kanó will present the shinobue as an instrument connected to festivals, theatre, and folk music, as well as a means of contemporary musical expression bridging Japanese tradition with modern world music. The programme includes live demonstrations and explanations of sound and tone production.
The programme will be held in English with interpretation into Czech.
