Sinfonietta100

A music and dance adaptation of Leoš Janáček's Sinfonietta marking the 100th anniversary of the composition.

Choreographer Martin Dvořák approaches the Sinfonietta as a dance image of our time - Janáček's music stands as a counterpoint to today's social chaos, manipulation, and brutality. Musician and vocalist Patrik Kee adds four of his own compositions to Janáček's five movements, creating a musical bridge to the present.

Six dancers perform before an audience of up to one hundred in the Water Towers space on Žlutý kopec. Janáček's own words about the work's creation capture it best: "Over the city, the radiance of freedom is conjured, rebirth. And the crash of triumphant trumpets, night shadows and the breath of the green mountain, and visions of a certain grandeur and magnitude were born in my Sinfonietta of this knowledge from my city Brno."
