The Prague Film Orchestra performs in Šumperk with a programme of film music conducted by maestro Jan Kučera. Dozens of musicians will take the stage to bring to life melodies from Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean and more.

The repertoire spans the work of composers such as John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore and James Horner.

Dům kultury Šumperk is the city's main cultural venue, hosting over 300 events a year – concerts across all genres, theatre performances, lectures, courses, and festivals such as Blues Alive, Džemfest, and the International Folklore Festival. The complex also houses the Galerie Jiřího Jílka, a non-commercial gallery running monthly solo exhibitions and a permanent collection of works by Jiří Jílek since 1993.

With over a hundred symphonic premieres to his name and a tenure as chief conductor of the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra (2015-2021), Jan Kučera ranks among the most active figures on the Czech classical scene. His own stage works - operas and ballets alike - are performed by leading Czech ensembles including the Czech Philharmonic and the National Theatre.
