The film "Jára Cimrman Lying, Sleeping" presents a fictional character - a universal genius of Czech history and protagonist of dozens of plays from the Prague theatre bearing his name. This is the first film in which Cimrman takes on a more concrete form.

The story is composed of several "reconstructed" episodes from the life of this Master, set within the frame of an excursion through his room in the village of Liptákov. Individual chapters, infused with the characteristic humour of the Smoljak-Svěrák duo, offer a new perspective on previously unknown "aspects" of Cimrman's life and work.

About the venue: Zámek Veleslavín

A baroque château in the Prague district of Veleslavín, built in all likelihood to plans by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer between 1730 and 1750. Around the turn of the 20th century it gained neo-baroque wings and became a lung sanatorium - patients included Charlotta Masaryková and Milena Jesenská, while T. G. Masaryk set up an office here after returning from exile. From the 1950s until 2018 the complex served various medical facilities. In 2024 the Prague 6 municipality opened the grounds to the public as a park and venue for cultural events.
