Ghosts at the Synagogue and Mysterious Legends of the Jewish Town
Tramvajová zastávka Právnická fakulta, Prague
A guided walking tour takes participants through the streets of Prague's vanished ghetto and presents its real and legendary stories. The programme includes the place where Judah Loew ben Bezalel (Rabbi Loew) lived, tales of the Golem and its role in the household, and the story of how Mordechai Maisel, the leader of the Jewish town, came to his wealth.
The tour also touches on the dark history of brutal massacres and murders - the route passes by the former executioner's house and butchery, as well as places where monks found the body of John of Nepomuk. Participants will learn where the famous doctor Kittel lived, who flew to Prague on a magical cloak from the Jizera Mountains, and will walk past the old cemetery, where perhaps even a Polish queen rests.
