Architecture Day: Guided Tour of Medova Villa
A guided tour of the functionalist villa designed by Josef Gočár, led by Natália Brzoňová, coordinator of its restoration project. Built in 1933-1934 for merchant Otakar Meda, the villa exemplifies modern, practical living with emphasis on quality craftsmanship and the integration of interior spaces with the garden.
In the garden, the simple functionalist form is complemented by a sculpture of T. G. Masaryk by Vincenc Makovský, creating a striking ensemble at the edge of the city center. The villa has survived in its original state and has not yet undergone any restoration.
During the tour, visitors will see the living spaces and adjacent garden, and learn more about the house's history and current use. For more information: natalie.brzonova@gmail.com or 776 627 556.
