The Czech Tolar and Its Significance

Tomáš Daněk and Pavel V. Hnízdil will present the noble Šlík family (Schlick), who became wealthy over 500 years ago through silver mining in the Ore Mountains, and will explore the minting of the Jáchymov thaler.

The lecture will also cover the history of mining and metallurgy in the Czech lands under the early Habsburgs, including figures associated with ore extraction and processing - Georg Agricola and Caspar of Sarto.

The event is part of the Genealogy+ series and is organized by the National Library of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Czech Genealogical and Heraldic Society in Prague.
