Life Behind the Wall: North Korea

Holešovická tržnice – Hala 13, Prague

150–750 CZK · ≈ 6–31 €

The multimedia festival "Life Behind the Wall: North Korea" is created under the direction of writer and Korea scholar Nina Špitálníková, who has long been documenting testimonies of people fleeing North Korean totalitarianism. The event aims to be the largest event about North Korea and North Korean refugees in the Czech Republic and across Europe.

The main immersive installation occupies 1,500 m² in Hall 13 of the Prague Market Hall. The visual design of the festival was created by architect Barbara Bencová, with portraits of North Koreans who escaped totalitarianism captured by Tim Franco, author of the award-winning series "Unperson". The exhibition is complemented by illustrations by Dana Lédl (Myokard).

At the heart of the festival are authentic testimonies from North Koreans. The event is designed to be intergenerational—it includes a children's zone called "Tota Flies", which introduces younger visitors in a playful way to the value of freedom.
