Pioneers of Independence: Continuo & Divadlo Bratří Formanů & Buchty a loutky

A two-day festival celebrating three ensembles that founded the Czech independent puppet theatre scene: Divadlo bratří Formanů, Buchty a loutky, and Continuo. The programme features theatrical performances and a moderated panel discussion. The event is part of the Year of Puppet Theatre, initiated by Prof. Miloslav Klíma.

17:00 Café (free) - Buchty a loutky: "Punch and Judy"
A puppet grotesque of English origin. Judy entrusts Punch with minding their unruly child - Punch handles the situation in his own way, just as he later deals with Judy and other characters. But when death finally arrives, things get serious.

19:30 Hall - Continuo: "Sensus Communis"
A performative project at the intersection of sound poetry, sound puppetry, and object theatre. The title references the concept of "common sense", yet the work turns instead toward embodied and sensory perception of the world. It employs both contemporary and analogue technologies, following the story of two mysterious beings - operators who explore the mechanics of things that may have lost their original meaning and persist only as melancholic traces of the past.
