Gross / Hanousek / Marciniak is an Austrian-Czech-Polish trio working in the tradition of European free improvisation, free jazz, and contemporary composition. The musicians intensively explore extended and alternative playing techniques, with each bringing the imprint of their own background to the collective sound.

About the venue: Ponava Cafe

Ponava Cafe is a café and music club on the edge of Lužánky park in central Brno, right next to the conservatory. It offers specialty coffee, quality beer, and a varied cultural programme focused on jazz, alternative, folk, and blues. The intimate interior hosts small concerts, author readings, and exhibitions, while in summer events move outdoors. The venue organises the annual four-day Ponava Fest and also runs the online Radio Ponava.

About: Radim Hanousek

Radim Hanousek (born 1971) is a Brno-based saxophonist, bass clarinettist and composer working at the intersection of jazz, free improvisation and contemporary music. He co-founded the Norwegian-Czech quartet NOCZ in 2009 and has led his own project Dust in the Groove since 2013. Since 2017 he has served as jazz programmer for the Ponavafest Brno festival and has organised several editions of the Festival of Ugly Music. As an improviser he collaborates regularly with musicians from Switzerland, Norway, Germany, Portugal, Austria and Italy.
