Veletržní palác and Parkhotel: Two Faces of Modernism

A guided tour presenting two Prague modernist buildings with a firm place on the map of world architecture. Guide Květoslava Navrátilová will show what connects buildings of different eras and how they differ from each other.

In the corridors of Veletržní palác, you will hear the story of architects Josef Fuchs and Oldřich Tyl and their timeless ideas. In the Mama Shelter Prague building - the original Parkhotel - the tour will focus on original elements by Alena Šrámková and recall films in which the interior appeared. The programme also includes a design by architects Zdeněk Edel and Jiří Lavička and an explanation of its boldness at the time.
