Open Forest Day

Open Forest Day is a nationwide event organized by the Association of Municipal, Private and Church Forest Owners in the Czech Republic (SVOL), held for the fifth time in 2026. The event takes place on Saturday, May 23, 2026, across dozens of non-state forest properties throughout the country, including Prague, where Prague's Municipal Forests participate. Visitors can meet forest owners and managers directly in their forests. Various locations offer guided forest walks, demonstrations of forestry work, reforestation and forest education activities. Larger properties typically provide refreshments, children's competitions and other activities. Expect demonstrations of heavy machinery and horse work, bird of prey training, and meetings with foresters who will showcase their work — from planting saplings through their care to timber harvesting.
