Leitnerka 70: AG Flek
AG Flek was formed in Zlín. The original line-up featured vocalist Blanka Táborská, vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist Ivo Viktorin, vocalist and guitarist Karel Markytán, and bassist Josef Šobáň. In 1983, with drummer Zdeněk Hromádka, they recorded a self-titled album (later reissued as Blázni umírají nadvakrát - "Fools Die Twice"), which critics hailed as a model of folk and folk-rock interpretation. After the album's release, Blanka Táborská left, replaced by Vlasta Redl, followed by Ivo Viktorin after six years and Karel Markytán after another three - but that was a different story.
After the original line-up's 1996 tour and two years of recording, a new album called Waltz was released in 1999 on BMG under the names of the three main protagonists. Characteristic multi-part harmonies, acoustic guitars, keyboards and the songwriting duo Viktorin - Markytán, supplemented by two texts by Dušan Michelfeita - the old good AG Flek had returned.
From 2000 onwards, the band performed regularly again; the core trio of Viktorin, Táborská and Markytán was joined by bassist Josef Vojtášek, guitarist Petr Hoffmann and drummer Marek Šlapanský. In June 2001, Karel Markytán released the album Konec sladkostí ("End of Sweetness") on the Venkow-Universal label, and Ivo Viktorin released his solo album Vlna za vlnou... ("Wave After Wave...") in 2005 on Indies Records.
For the band's thirtieth anniversary, the original quartet of Táborská, Viktorin, Markytán and Šobáň reunited - joined by guitarist Michael Vašíček and drummer David Velčovský (both known from Vlasta Redl's band Každý den jinak). In 2018, guitarist Petr Hoffmann and drummer Petr Ptáček took their positions. At the end of 2009, the band released a DVD with 21 songs, and in 2010 their first live album KONCERT with previously unreleased compositions. In March 2018, AG Flek released the studio album Podnohama Zem on Indies Scope Records label, nominated for the Anděl Award 2018 in the Folk category.
Their repertoire includes songs from the band albums Blázni umírají nadvakrát, Dohrála hudba and Waltz, as well as from the solo albums Konec sladkostí and Vlna za vlnou.
