B4 + Lavender Mist

B4 is a Czech group moving between improvisation, psychedelia, krautrock, noise, jazz and rock - with a special focus on the sound of the former Eastern Bloc. The band was formed in 1998 at a festival in Turnov, when they were needed to replace a missing band with an improvised ensemble. The core members are David Freudl, Tomáš Procházka and Leoš Kropáček. B4 are arguably the first Czech post-revolutionary band to consistently explore krautrock.

The band's studio recordings and live performances often differ significantly. In addition to improvised krautrock performances, B4 also work with electronic versions of Plastic People of the Universe compositions and other continuously evolving projects. Their sound, long associated with historical analog organs, synthesizers and tape echoes, is now complemented by contemporary instruments and technologies. The group is a recipient of the Vinyl Award for Album of the Year for albums released in 2011 and 2019.

Lavender Mist is a Liberec-based project by Jan Janecký and Michal Staněk, whose music oscillates between ambient, 1990s electronic sound and guitar walls in the spirit of shoegaze. The band's name references an artwork by American painter Jackson Pollock. In October 2023 they released their debut LP titled EARTH IS MY HAPPINESS on vinyl.
