Opava City Cemetery: Opava Entrepreneurs

An August guided tour will present significant Opava business families of the interwar period and personalities who contributed to the city's economic development.
The route will take visitors to the final resting places of numerous entrepreneurs and merchants. Participants will learn about the fates of the owner of the Prachowny stationery shop, sugar factory director Heinrich Janotta, operators of Opava ironmongers Karl Girschek, Eduard Nedela and Carl Dorasil, printer and automobile pioneer August Strasilla, seed merchant Martin Grosse, drive belt manufacturer Jan Kupčík, and other wholesale merchants - August Lassmann and Raimund Habel. The tour will reveal their professional achievements and contributions to Opava's economic and social life during the interwar period.
Guided by Zdeněk Kravar (State Archives in Opava). Starting at the main gate of Opava City Cemetery, approximately 90 minutes long. Tickets are available through GOOUT, at the reception of the Municipal House, or on-site. In case of very bad weather, the tour is cancelled and admission is refunded.
