From Cibulka to Plzeňská
Various venues in Prague, Prague
From Cibulka to Plzeňská with Prague with Open Eyes.
The last quarter of the 18th and early 19th centuries were marked by the Enlightenment, which emphasized reason, science, and truth. This changed the relationship with nature - the agricultural landscape around Prague was transformed into extensive landscape parks, designed to appear natural while offering instruction. Early 19th-century Romanticism added history, mystery, and exoticism. The parks contain interesting plants, water features, sculptures, pavilions, ruins, and viewing towers.
The walk will lead through the park of Leopold Leonard Thun-Hohenstein around the original Cibulka estate. On the way to Plzeňská, participants will pass garden colonies of family houses from the 1920s and the functionalist Church of St. John of Nepomuk. The route ends near the location of the Kavalírka film studio of director Karel Lamač.
