Hotel International

Guided tour of Hotel International, Prague's largest and tallest hotel built in the socialist realist style. The building earned several nicknames over the years - Čepička's Barracks, The Mad Confectioner's Dream, and Lomonosov University - and legend has it that workers hoped Stalin himself would visit during construction.

The tour takes visitors through the hotel's interiors, including the original gymnasium converted into a restaurant, and explores the building's modern history. You'll learn how the hotel avoided planned renovations in the 1990s and discover what was found during reconstruction. A particular highlight is a cryptogram hidden in the stucco decoration that workers smuggled in and later partially concealed. Few know that the famous red star on the hotel's roof was stolen in the 1990s. The tour concludes on the observation floor with views of Prague and the Hradčany skyline. After the tour, you can visit the hotel restaurant or, in summer months, the garden.
