Visit to the Anti-Atomic Shelter at Hotel Jalta — Jalta Boutique Hotel, Prague

Hotel Jalta was built in 1953 on the site of a building destroyed by American bombing in spring 1945. It was constructed at the request of President Antonín Zápotocký and designed by architect Antonín Tenzer in the style of so-called Stalinist Baroque. The building included a secret anti-atomic shelter whose existence was unknown even to the hotel staff.

After 1989, the shelter was taken over by Prague's civil defense and operated until 1997, when the building was first handed over to the hotel owner. Tour participants will walk through individual rooms and learn how the shelter actually functioned. The tour is led by a museum guide.
