Transformations of Opava's Streets - Panská Street / Masarykova Avenue

Today's Masarykova Avenue has borne many names throughout the centuries - Cattle Market, Horse Market, Panská Street (Herrengasse), after the founding of Czechoslovakia an avenue named after the first president, then Victory February Avenue, and since 1990 Masarykova Avenue again. This one of the first commercial arteries of medieval Opava connected the Hradec and Ratibor gates, and livestock markets were held here until the Opava Congress of 1820.

The guided tour traces the stories of individual plots and buildings, as well as the events connected to them. Since many of these structures no longer stand, the tour includes a visual guide available for loan. The route is led by Pavel Solnický from the State Archive in Opava, with an estimated duration of 60-90 minutes.

Tickets are available on GoOut, at the reception of the Municipal House, or on-site. In case of very bad weather, the tour is cancelled and admission is refunded.
