Markéta Foukalová & Martin Brunner — Album Release

Singer Markéta Foukalová and composer and pianist Martin Brunner present a new album of poems by Jan Zábrana set to music — the first musical adaptation of his work on such a scale and as a unified project. Zábrana's oeuvre stands as essential testimony to life in communist Czechoslovakia and is marked by remarkable linguistic craftsmanship. The programme premiered at the Rehearsal for Truth, Festival Honoring Václav Havel, in New York and Vancouver.

The album "Zábrana" is released on the Animal Music label. Foukalová and Brunner are joined by pianist Vít Křišťan (Jaromír Honzák, Dan Bárta, Robert Balzar Trio, Jana Kirschner), playing Rhodes piano and other keyboard instruments, and guitarist Tomáš Fuchs (Jana Kirschner).
