Life Behind the Wall: North Korea
Holešovická tržnice – Hala 13, Prague
150–750 CZK · ≈ 6–31 €
The multimedia festival "Life Behind the Wall: North Korea" is created under the direction of writer and Korea scholar Nina Špitálníková, who has long been documenting testimonies of people fleeing totalitarianism. According to the organizers, it is the largest event about North Korea and North Korean refugees in the Czech Republic and across Europe.
The main immersive installation occupies 1,500 m² in Hall 13 of the Prague Market Hall. The visual design of the festival was created by architect Barbara Bencová, portraits of North Koreans who escaped totalitarianism were captured by Tim Franco, author of the award-winning series "Unperson", and the exhibition also includes illustrations by Dana Lédl (Myokard). At the heart of the entire event are authentic testimonies from North Koreans.
The festival is designed for multiple generations — it includes a children's zone called "Tota Flies", which introduces younger visitors to the value of freedom in a playful way.
