About the venue: Wallachian Open Air Museum

The Wallachian Open Air Museum in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm is the largest open-air museum in the Czech Republic and one of the oldest in Central Europe, founded in 1925 by the Jaroněk brothers. It comprises three sections - the Little Wooden Town, the Wallachian Village and the Water Mill Valley - with original timbered buildings relocated from the surrounding region alongside reconstructions, all set in natural landscape. The museum is a listed national monument and runs events throughout the year focused on folklore, traditional crafts and customs. It also manages the ensemble of wooden Art Nouveau buildings by Dušan Jurkovič at Pustevny.

The Oravan ensemble from Nižná has been keeping Orava folk traditions alive since 1952, bringing dances from Liptov, Detva and Orava itself to stages at home and at CIOFF festivals abroad. Alongside the main group, Oravan Senior - made up of long-standing former members - continues to perform since 2002.

The Oravan ensemble celebrated its 70th anniversary of founding and 50th anniversary of resuming activities at the House of Culture in Nižná with a four-hour program featuring 150 performers from four generations.

At the preview of the jubilee program titled 'On the Raft of Joy, Along the Stream of Beauty' in Nižná, approximately 350 spectators from various parts of the region gathered.
