Stalker (1979)

Tarkovsky's final Soviet film is a metaphysical journey through an enigmatic post-apocalyptic landscape. A hired guide - the Stalker - leads a Writer and a Professor into the heart of the Zone, an inaccessible area where a mysterious catastrophe once occurred. Three men travel toward a secret place capable of fulfilling their deepest desires.

In his adaptation of the novella by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, Tarkovsky constructed a world filled with intricate details and the organic logic of its own space.
