An exhibition marking the 130th anniversary of the founding of the first fishing club in Sušice recalls the history of organized fishing in the city, whose fate has been inseparably linked to the Otava River for centuries.

The exhibition focuses not only on fishing equipment - it maps the broader story of the club and its place in the life of the city.

About the venue: Šumava Museum Sušice

The Šumava Museum in Sušice was founded in 1880 by local teacher Josef Holík, making it the first museum in the Bohemian Forest foothills. It occupies a Renaissance townhouse with a Gothic core dating from the second half of the 15th century on Náměstí Svobody. Permanent exhibitions cover the history of match production - manufacturing began here in 1839 and grew into a globally significant industry - and the glassmaking traditions of the Šumava region. The highlight is a mechanical nativity scene five metres long, among the largest of its kind in the Czech Republic. The museum is part of a network of four branches, including Kašperské Hory, Železná Ruda and Dobrá Voda.
