Chica Checa

Fifty-five-year-old Zdena leads an ordinary life as a rural postal worker - her house is falling apart, and she fills her solitude with cucumbers and television. Her son Lukáš lives in France, successful and distant, or so it seems through the screen of an old computer.

When Lukáš's ninety-year-old grandmother Věra expresses her final wish - to see Helena Vondráčková - it seems like the whim of a dying woman. But Lukáš's arrival brings a secret he has carefully guarded for years: he is gay and works as a drag queen named Chica Checa. At the same time, it becomes clear that Zdena too yearns for a different life than those around her expect.

The effort to make grandmother happy brings Lukáš and Zdena closer together - and may surprise even them. Because when you stop lying to those closest to you, you must stop lying to yourself.
