Bitter Holidays

An aging acclaimed director named Raúl writes a story about the enchanting Else, who arrives on sunny Lanzarote in 2004 to escape a life crisis and find a fresh start. Yet the events and characters suspiciously resemble the fates of those close to him - they begin to recognize themselves in the story and ask uncomfortable questions. Where does inspiration end and privacy begin?

With this film, Pedro Almodóvar returned to the main competition at the Cannes Festival.
