Janoušek-Wróblewski Quartet
The Janoušek-Wróblewski Quartet (JWQ) is a Czech band that has been performing in the same lineup for eleven years. It emerged from the collaboration between trombonist Štěpán Janoušek (Skety, MarZ, Jazzdock Orchestra, Farma v Jeskyni) and saxophonist Michał Wróblewski (E Converso, Toša, Karm, Futur Swing), who have played together since their studies and both compose for the band. The rhythm section features Miloš Klápště on double bass and Jan Chalupa on drums.
JWQ's music is built on striking compositions that traverse various genres - from avant-garde American jazz to Czech brass band traditions - woven through with free improvisation. The band has released two albums and performed at festivals and clubs across the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Poland, Serbia, Hungary, and Slovakia.
