Two Decis of Ink

Two Decilitres of Ink is a biographical documentary film whose quality can be measured simply: a viewer unfamiliar with its subject will feel the urge to meet him after watching.

Ester Geislerová captures her father Petr Geisler (1949-2009) - a Japanologist, translator, journalist, educator and calligrapher - as an exceptional figure in Czech cultural life at the end of the twentieth century. She does not lose sight of the intimate and family dimension, both joyful and painful. From photographs, home videos, letters and memories, she constructs a portrait of an extraordinarily educated, original and charming man who remained mysteriously elusive even to those closest to him.
