Public Space by František Skála

A documentary film follows František Skála - a visual artist, performer, and musician - as he moves through public space. With humor, seriousness, and self-irony, it reveals beauty in imperfection, poetry in the ordinary, and the joy of creation as a way of life.

A significant part of the film documents the creation of a monumental sculpture of the dog Vulpes Gott: from model-making to its journey by boat down the Elbe to the opening in Dresden. The narrative is woven through with the artist's diaries and objects in public space - his first sculpture in the Veltrusy castle park, Prastánek, and the Paradise Garden at Sluňákova.

The film features František Skála's friends, the band Třaskavá směs, the brass ensemble Provodovjané, and philosopher Miroslav Petříček. Skála's work is also known from Divadlo Sklep, the group Tvrdohlaví, the ensemble Tros Sketos, and M.T.O. Universal.
