Loreta and Its Surroundings

A guided walking tour led by Martin Bělohradský begins at the statue of Tycho Brahe and Johannes Kepler and ends at the Pražský Hrad tram stop. The route passes through Hradčany and takes approximately 1.5-2 hours.

Along the way, participants will visit the Baroque Loreta with its treasury, where the Prague Sun - a monstrance decorated with more than 6,000 diamonds - is housed, and hear the famous carillon. The tour also covers the Hradčany House as a symbol of communist terror and the suffering of Third Resistance heroes, the reasons why Tycho de Brahe moved his astronomical observations from Hradčany to Brandýs nad Labem, and the house where he lived near Loreta.

The route further passes the cage in Jelení Příkop, where a bear gifted to President Masaryk by representatives of Subcarpathian Ruthenia was kept, and the rear section of Šternberg Palace, from which paintings by El Greco, Frans Hals, and Titian were stolen in 1972.
