Two Decis of Ink

A distinctive documentary portrait by Ester Geislerová - an intimate journey into the inner world of her father, who died prematurely. He was a renowned Japanologist and calligrapher, Petr Geisler. From family archives, personal letters, and friends' memories, set against the grey backdrop of normalisation-era Czechoslovakia and the vibrant Tokyo of the 1980s, emerges a multi-layered portrait of a fragile artist.

The film explores human failures and triumphs, the yearning for freedom, and the attempt to capture the fleeting trace of a man of great charm and Renaissance talent - someone who remained in many ways a mystery to his own family.

The film will have its world premiere at the 60th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Special Screenings section.
