Tereza Lenerová: Do tuhého / When The Going Gets Tough — Moving Station, Pilsen

A performative exploration of bodily memory, physical limitation, and recovery. The work emerges from the artist's autobiographical experience with chronic inflammatory spinal disease, which gradually transforms her movement vocabulary. Through a process of discomfort and loss of flexibility, she seeks an artistic response: how to maintain resilience when everything within us hardens?

Rigidity is a new condition. The world and society, which seemed to exist in endless motion, now strangely stiffen and cultivate a new protective shell. Two movement qualities stand in opposition - the flexibility of a plant that stretches and reaches through space, and contraction, a pulling back that arrives as shock and encloses us in our own boundaries. The less we move, the less capable we become of movement.

Are we all undergoing a change of state, or is society more flexible and constantly evolving while I, in my limited aging human body, grow rigid?
