Challenge: To Work by Bike 2026

The May challenge "To Work by Bike, on Foot or by Scooter" is a nationwide initiative organized by the Auto*Mat association since 2011. In 2026, it is the 16th edition and involves over 56 cities across the country. Throughout May (1–31 May 2026), participants commute to work, shopping, visits, or school with children by bike, scooter, skateboard, inline skates, on foot, or by scooter. The challenge is not about the number of kilometers covered, but about regularity. Simply register as an individual or as a team of 2–5 people, pay the participation fee, and log your trips in the system. Teams that achieve at least 66.6% regularity are entered into a draw for prizes from partners. This year's novelty is the option to choose participation with a participation package (unisex t-shirt in 8 sizes XXS–3XL or socks), or a cheaper option without the package. The challenge includes accompanying events – cycling breakfasts, cycling rides, and final parties with prize draws. Participants also nominate candidates for the titles of Cycling Employer and Cycling City of the Year. In parallel, there is a "To School by Bike" challenge for younger generations. Registration takes place on the website dopracenakole.cz; 79% of participants have their fee paid by their employer. Participation can be reimbursed through health insurance companies VZP, OZP, and ČPZP.
