Unreal State

Unreal State is an IRL RPG (role-playing game in real life) - a walking performative game set in the outdoor spaces of the city centre. Players move across a digital map via a mobile app that transforms the urban environment into both a stage and a game board.

Under the guidance of King, a fictional authoritarian figure convinced he knows what players want before they do themselves, participants take on various roles: tenants, landlords, developers, or activists. Each player starts at a different location in the city with distinct privileges and constraints, and receives a printed booklet in the style of "Choose Your Own Adventure".

As they explore sites marked by real estate speculation, gentrification, and neglect, players encounter stories that reveal the invisible logic shaping the city. The game thus critically examines how property speculation and corporate influence shape contemporary urban life.

Number of participants: maximum 30 people. Duration depends on the players, estimated at approximately 2 hours during daylight.
