Goddesses - Paths of Fate, Beyond the Field, Wayside Shrines

The film screening is preceded by a musical programme focused on folklore, and Panelka will offer Czech and Moravian delicacies on this day.

Three short folklore films in Czech are being shown:

Goddesses – Paths of Fate (Czech Republic, 2024, 32 min) — The story of two young lovers whose relationship is tested by forces of love, passion, envy and betrayal during the night of Saint John. Their fates are watched over by an ethereal figure of the Goddess — a symbol of the feminine principle, intuition and ancient wisdom. Director: Dominika Prášková. Wayside Shrines (Czech Republic, 2020, 15 min) — A timeless story of two brothers, Jožka and Slávka, set against the backdrop of a Strážnice dance celebration. Younger Jožka maintains a secret relationship with Anna, the wife of local wealthy man Francek. During a night full of dancing, singing and wine, all four drink from the cup of truth. Beyond the Field (Czech Republic, 2023, 23 min) — Young Eliška becomes trapped in a mysterious inn on the border between the known and unknown worlds. A space that initially seems familiar gradually transforms into a place where the boundary between reality, memories and what comes after them blurs. Director and Screenplay: Hana Neničková.
