ÚLUV – An Unending Story at the Moravian Museum
Moravské zemské muzeum, Brno
The Moravian Museum presents a collection from ÚLUV (Centre for Folk Art Production) – an organization founded in 1945 to revive and develop folk crafts in a modern context. The museum's ethnographic department was the only ethnographic museum in the Czech lands that systematically documented the evolution and structural changes of folk art production. Between 1973 and 1993, the department collected award-winning products from various competitions and regular offerings. Following ÚLUV's closure in 1995, Brno became home to a unique collection capturing contemporary art production inspired by tradition – now presented to the public for the first time. The exhibition offers a creative space for play, making, and discovery for children, young designers, and adult visitors alike. Visitors can try their hand at designing clothing and accessories or participate in an interactive AR game where they use augmented reality to search for clues and complete tasks related to traditional crafts. The museum also invites the public to bring items marked with ÚLUV or Krásná jizba – lenders receive free admission to the exhibitions. The exhibition runs in the Dietrichstein Palace at Zelný trh 8 in Brno from 28 November 2025 to 14 June 2026. Opening hours: Wednesday–Friday 9–17, Saturday 10–17, Sunday 13–17. Admission: full 90 CZK, reduced 50 CZK, family 200 CZK.
