The World of Bells in Northern Plzeň Region

The Museum and Gallery of Northern Plzeň Region in Mariánská Týnice invites you on June 7, 2025 from 5:00 PM to the ceremonial opening of the exhibition "The World of Bells in Northern Plzeň Region" as part of the Baroque Evening in Mariánská Týnice. The exhibition is located in the western ambulatory of the church and will run until November 1, 2025. The outdoor exhibition explores the unique world of bells – specific musical instruments whose sound has accompanied humanity since pre-Christian times. It focuses on historical bells of the northern Plzeň region in the context of bell-founding workshops and modern restorations.
Opening programme: from 5:00 PM the Lauriger theatre ensemble will present a shortened version of the play by Jesuit Arnold Engel "Catherine, Daughter of King Costa, Virgin Martyr of Alexandria" (1656); from 6:30 PM compositions by Mauritius Vogt, Josef Antonín Plánický and Alberik Mazák will be performed by the Societas Literatorum ensemble; at 7:30 PM the exhibition will be formally opened. Admission to the Baroque Evening: 160 CZK (full) / 120 CZK (reduced). The Mariánská Týnice complex has been on the list of national cultural monuments since 2018 and the surrounding landscape received the European Heritage Label in 2024.
