Miloslav Janků

Detesk s.r.o., Železný Brod

An exhibition marking the 110th anniversary of the birth of academic painter Miloslav Janků (4 April 1916 Úpice – 27 May 1994 Železný Brod) presents an overlooked area of his work – drawings, wash drawings, and watercolours. These techniques form, alongside his glass art, a significant part of the artist's creative expression. Janků studied glass painting under Professor Zdeněk Jůna at the specialist glass school in Železný Brod and later continued at the School of Applied Arts in Prague in Professor Kysely's studio. From 1939 to 1959 he worked as a professor at the Železný Brod glass school, where he trained a number of important visual artists. As a glass artist, he contributed to the development of the distinctive Železný Brod tradition of glass figurines and furnace glass. The exhibition is held at the Museum and Gallery DETESK in Železný Brod, which is the organizer and implementer of the exhibition. Gallery DETESK focuses on commemorating the work of artists connected to the region whose reputation has transcended regional boundaries. Exhibitions at the gallery change approximately every three months. The exhibition runs until 24 May 2026.
