Summer Baroque Festival 2026 – Baroque Culture in Western Bohemia

Plzeňský kraj - různá místa, Plzeň

The Summer Baroque Festival is a cornerstone of the Western Bohemia Baroque project, organized by the Plzeň Region since 2016, continuing the Baroque Weeks from the Plzeň – European Capital of Culture 2015 initiative. The festival takes place annually across dozens of locations throughout the Plzeň Region, offering a multi-sensory experience of Baroque culture – through listening to Baroque music, viewing Baroque architecture and costumes, enjoying period fragrances, and tasting authentic Baroque cuisine.

The festival's core consists of several curated celebrations at the region's most significant Baroque sites – traditionally in Mariánská Týnice, Manětín, Tachov, and Blovice. The programme is complemented by classical music concerts, including the "Walks Through Art" series (organized by violist Jitka Hosprová) and the "Joy in Baroque" series, theatrical performances, pilgrimage masses, processions, period dances, and fireworks. Celebrations also take place at rural Baroque estates – castles in Čečovice, Rochlova, Cebiv, Trpiste, and Svojšín.

Visitors can try their hand at period crafts at the Building Heritage Centre in Plasí (blacksmithing, carpentry, masonry), attend expert lectures in the "Baroque Knowledge" series, or cycle through the region along three Baroque cycling routes in northern Plzeň. In 2026, the lecture series begins on 8 June in Plasí. The complete programme is continuously updated on the official project website www.zapadoceskebaroko.cz.
