Marilyn Monroe 100 — Česká Galerie Moderního Umění, Prague

A comprehensive exhibition marking the 100th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe's birth presents a multifaceted portrait of the actress, myth, and cultural phenomenon of the 20th century. The exhibition spans 600 m² across two floors of the Czech Gallery of Modern Art on Bethlehem Square.

At the heart of the exhibition are over 270 photographs by 31 photographers who shaped Marilyn Monroe's image throughout her career - from intimate shots by Sam Shaw and André de Dienes to iconic works by Bert Stern, Eve Arnold, Richard Avedon, George Barris, Philippe Halsman, Tom Kelley, Bruno Bernard, and Milton H. Greene. The photographs capture the transformation of her public image and the fragility hidden behind the facade of a Hollywood star.

The exhibition is complemented by works of American pin-up artists and pop art masters - Andy Warhol, Romero Britto, Mr. Brainwashe, Charles Fazzino, and Michael Godard. Czech artists represented include Pasta Oner, Štepán Mareš, and others. The exhibition also features personal objects that offer insight into her private life.
