Beneficial Roma Groove Fest — Káznice, Brno

The first edition of the Beneficial Roma Groove Fest brings together Roma culture, music, and community gathering in support of the Krtek Foundation Fund.

The programme includes a workshop of traditional Roma dances, a religious service, and musical performances by the bands NaMars!, 4GypsySoul, rapper MIKA, and rapper Lbeast.

About the venue: Káznice

The Káznice is a large prison complex in Brno's Zábrdovice district, whose foundation stone was laid in 1772. It served as a jail from 1784 to 1956 - during the Nazi Protectorate and after 1948 it held and executed political prisoners. Since 2018, the Tripitaka association has been running a community and cultural centre here, with concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions and site-specific projects. Regular events include the multigenre Ghettofest and the Faktor K festival. The city is gradually converting the complex into a creative centre with studios, workshops and a memorial space.
