The exhibition commemorates visual artists who during the normalization period chose to defend freedom of artistic expression and expressed their civic stance by signing the Charter 77 declaration. It maps the Czech visual art scene from the 1950s through 1968 to action art and the underground.

About the venue: North Bohemian Gallery of Fine Arts in Litoměřice

The North Bohemian Gallery of Fine Art in Litoměřice (SGVU) is a public institution of the Ústí nad Labem Region, open to visitors since 1958. It focuses on Czech fine art from the 14th century to the present and is a nationally significant centre for naïve and outsider art. The main building on Michalská Street stands on the Gothic city walls; the gallery also uses the Diocesan Museum on Mírové náměstí and the deconsecrated Church of the Annunciation. Its collection of over 7,000 works includes panel paintings by the Master of the Litoměřice Altarpiece.
