The Story of Brno's Riverbank
Hala Rondo (DRFG Arena), Brno · free entry, nutná registrace
A guided walk exploring the transformation of the Svratka riverbank near Poříčí Street, where flood-protection measures have created a new public space for recreation, sports, and everyday movement. Participants will learn about the modifications, including the removal of original stone walls, the widening of the river channel, and the creation of new paths and wide berms that open the riverbank to the public.
The route runs from the intersection of Poříčí and Nové sady streets toward the Riviéra swimming pool. Each stage of the revitalization will be presented in turn, along with its contribution to flood protection and urban infrastructure, as well as new opportunities for pedestrian and cycling connections under bridges - without needing to cross busy roads.
The meeting point is on the colonnade by the river beneath the future café on Rullerovo nábřeží, in front of the Rondo hall. The tour will be led by Bibiana Janebová from KAM Brno. Entry is free; registration is required.
At the end of the walk, you can participate in the "Urban centrum celebrates 20 years" competition by filling out a competition ticket.
